Since 1982, the third largest city in Spain has been feverishly reinventing itself
– laying out wide new avenues and investing in daring architectural projects. The Museo Nacional de Cerámica, housed in the astonishing Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas, is a gem of a museum and among its treasures it has hundreds of glorious glazed tiles (azulejos) for which the city is famous. The city’s major art collection, at the Museo de Bellas Artes, has paintings by Bosch, El Greco, Goya and Velázquez, and a definitive collection of 15th century Valencian art.
