Al Vecchio Convento

Al Vecchio Convento

‘A charming family-run hotel.’

Location: Situated in the small village of Portico di Romagna.
Highlights: This attractive 19th Century palazzo maintains many original features which are complimented with elegant antique furnishings as well as wrought iron architecture and beautifully painted ceramics. Works from local craftsmen are displayed here: these pieces blend in well with the fireplaces and brick archways.
The restaurant is one of the best of its traditional style in Romagna. The father and son are both chefs at this property, and their cooking (as well as their hospitality) is exceptional. The varied dishes use simple ingredients well and aim to use local produce where possible including truffles, mushrooms, game and homemade pasta. Alongside are served a selection of Italian wines. It’s possible to dine in the wonderful garden when the weather permits. The hotel is family- run and informal – a perfect base for exploring Tuscany and Emilia Romagna.
